I don't play computer games too much but I am looking for a game to pass some time while I am traveling. I got the Macbook Pro with Retina display a few months ago. I want a game to play that I can take advantage of the high resolution of the screen. Open to all suggestions. TIA

macbook isn't designed for gaming
if you want to take advantage of that display you should try some video editing

I do this already with videos I take on my go pro. I only have so much video to play around with. Any ideas where I can get some high quality videos files to use?

In my experience, playing games on a mac is pretty fricking miserable, even when the games have gone through the conversion to mac.
That said, I think most valve products like the half-life series work on MacOS as do Blizzard games.

Kerbal Space Program, it's on steam.
Steam has a whole section for Macs.
You could also try the built in app store and look at ratings on there. Lots of games on there.

I played StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 on my 2011 MacBook Pro. I had to run the settings on Medium to Low to avoid slowdowns and StarCraft would randomly crash. Diablo was slightly better except when the terrain had a lot of detail.
